John Hanlin

John Hanlin joined SUPERVALU in 2007 as vice president, Food Safety. Hanlin is responsible for leading SUPERVALU’s food safety and quality assurance programs across the organization’s merchandising, distribution and retail operations.
John has more than 20 years of food safety experience. Prior to joining SUPERVALU he worked at General Mills in various food safety and quality assurance roles. Hanlin has also worked at The Pillsbury Company and Campbell Soup Company. In the community, John has led a number of community outreach programs and regularly participates in panels and advisory boards to advance the practice of food safety. He currently sits on the Board of Visitors for Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Hanlin holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Microbiology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland; an MBA from Temple University, Philadelphia; and a Ph.D. in Biology/Microbiology from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York.
John is married with 2 children. He coaches youth soccer and occasionally finds the time to enjoy his passion for scuba diving.
Steven M. Niedelman

Steven Niedelman is a senior consultant to the Health Care and Product Risk Management Groups at Crowell & Moring LLP, specializing in regulatory, enforcement and policy matters involving industries regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. He provides strategic advice, insight and guidance to the medical device, pharmaceutical, biologics and foods industries to assure conformance to the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Based on his knowledge of FDA requirements, policies and procedures, Mr. Niedelman provides insight, guidance and training in FDA requirements to manufacturers, importers, new product developers as well as those firms involved in or facing enforcement actions. Mr. Niedelman helps firms develop corrective action plans that assure their business needs as well as regulatory requirements are properly balanced to assure compliance is achieved without compromising business objectives. He provides training and coaching to industry in all FDA requirements including quality systems requirements, inspection preparedness, postmarket obligations, and to executive management about FDA's expectations and their management responsibilities. Until July, 2008, Mr. Niedelman served as Executive Vice President of Quintiles Consulting, a global consulting firm specializing in providing strategic advice, insight and guidance to the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical and Biologics industries.
Doreen Hannes

National Independent Consumers and Farmers Association(NICFA)
Doreen Hannes has been an avid student of the effects of World Trade Organization Free Trade Agreements on the livelihoods of citizens of the United States since the establishment of the WTO and ratification of NAFTA in 1994-95. Her predominant area of interest has been the impact on independent agriculture and the ramifications of these agreements upon the food security, safety and sovereignty of the nation.
She has been a full time advocate for independent agriculture since 2005 and is a well-respected leader in the national movement to halt the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). Hannes has written extensively on the topic of NAIS as well as authored and co-authored several white papers on NAIS and other topics affecting the further consolidation of agriculture. She is a frequent guest on talk radio shows and has participated in many agricultural forums in her home state of Missouri. Hannes has served on the R-CALF USA Animal ID Committee for several years. As Director of Research for NICFA Hannes brought, as well as her research background, her dedication to NICFA’s mission statement and her ability to relate complex and unfamiliar material in a concise and meaningful manner.

I graduated from the State University of New York Delhi, Agricultural and Technical College, Delhi, NY and Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. I began my career as a farm products inspector in Rochester, NY. I have worked in Washington, DC since 1995.
