Ms. Goff is an associate in the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She has advised for-profit, non-profit, and governmental clients on a variety of issues relating to the design, qualification, administration and termination of 401(k), profit sharing, and other qualified plans. She also has experience designing nonqualified executive compensation agreements and accompanying trusts. Ms. Goff has assisted clients in correcting operational and administrative plan errors and conducting internal comprehensive benefit plan compliance audits. Ms. Goff has extensive experience with welfare and flexible benefit plans, and the rules relating to COBRA continuation coverage, USERRA military leave, and HIPAA security and privacy rules under such plans. Ms. Goff has helped clients from small family-owned businesses to large multinational conglomerates in formulating an effective benefits communication and administration strategy. She also has experience assisting clients to resolve benefit and fiduciary duty claims through alternative dispute resolution and litigation.

Andy R. Anderson

Mr. Anderson has handled a variety of employee benefits matters, including government self-correction programs, cafeteria plans, health and welfare plans, VEBAs and benefit plans for tax-exempt organizations, including Section 457 plans, church plans and Section 403(b) plans. He has worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies regarding the administration of employee benefits programs, with an emphasis on the administration of health and welfare plans. Mr. Anderson frequently counsels clients on regulatory compliance issues dealing with the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, COBRA and HIPAA.

Mr. Anderson's practice also focuses on outsourcing employee benefits issues in the areas of retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and payroll practices. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Anderson led the Hewitt Associates' legal group responsible for outsourcing employee benefits.

Mr. Anderson has commented on proposed regulations, testified at IRS hearings, and testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on ERISA preemption. He also worked closely with several government agencies during the launch of the advance credit for the TAA tax credit.

Kurt L.P. Lawson, Esq.

Kurt Lawson focuses on issues involving executive compensation, tax-qualified retirement plans and welfare benefit plans, and ERISA fiduciary and prohibited transaction issues. From 1989 through 1993, Kurt served in the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Benefits Tax Counsel, where, among other things, he played a leading role in developing regulations on section 401(k) arrangements and served on the Clinton administration’s task force on health care reform.

Among other interests, Kurt has worked extensively on benefit plans of tax-exempt and governmental employers, and benefit plans for partnerships and LLCs. He also regularly advises clients on ERISA and tax issues raised by venture capital, real estate and other pension plan investments, and has considerable experience with employment tax issues, including the classification of workers as employees or independent contractors and taxes on foreign nationals. He also monitors legislative and regulatory developments for clients and helps them pursue appropriate changes.

Kurt is chair of the Employee Benefits Committee of the American Bar Association Tax Section. He speaks and writes regularly on employee benefits topics and is an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center.
