Kevin L. Petrasic is of counsel in the Paul Hastings Financial Services practice group and is resident in the Washington, D.C. office. He advises financial services firms and depository institutions on a wide array of regulatory, legislative, transactional and compliance issues.

Mr. Petrasic has broad government experience, including serving as Special Counsel, Managing Director of External Affairs, Director of Congressional Affairs, Legislative Counsel, and Assistant Chief Counsel at the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Thrift Supervision, as well as Counsel to the former House Banking Committee.

He has extensive understanding and experience working with the Federal banking agencies, the House Financial Services and Senate Banking committees, the Treasury Department, other financial services regulators, and the financial and national media.

As both a lawyer and a policy advisor, Mr. Petrasic has provided counsel on a wide array of legal policy, legislative, regulatory and compliance issues related to the financial services industry and mortgage market regulation, housing-related matters, financial services holding companies, mergers and acquisitions and other specialized transactions, privacy and data breach, bank and thrift powers, compliance matters and corporate governance.

Mr. Petrasic is a regular speaker at financial services industry conferences and seminars, appears on various news shows, including Bloomberg Television and Al Jazeera English Television, and is a frequent source for numerous financial publications, including the American Banker, Wall Street Journal, Reuters News Service, Bloomberg News, and BNA Banking Report, and various other national news publications.

Mr. Petrasic holds a Juris Doctor from The Columbus School of Law of the Catholic University of America, and joint Bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science from the University of Delaware.

David Jacob
Executive Managing Director, Head of Global Structured Finance

David P. Jacob is executive managing director of Standard & Poor’s Global Structured Finance Ratings group. The group includes Standard & Poor’s CMBS, RMBS, ABS, CDO, and Surveillance ratings groups worldwide.

David, who joined Standard & Poor’s in August 2008, has nearly 30 years of experience in fi xed income investment analysis and the structured fi nance markets. During his career, David has worked with a number of well-known fi nancial institutions, including 14 years with Nomura Securities International where he was head of Structuring and Fixed Income Research, U.S.; and later managing director, head of International Fixed Income Research.

Through the 1980s and ‘90s David served as managing director, head of Fixed Income Research, at JPMorgan and before that as a vice president at Morgan Stanley in a variety of areas in fi xed income, including trading and quantitative analytics. Prior to joining Standard & Poor’s, David was a principle with Adelson & Jacob Consulting, a structured fi nance consulting fi rm. He began his career as an analyst at Moody’s Investor Service and Equitable Life Assurance.

David received an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting and an M.S. in Mathematics from New York University.

Alan L. Todd, CFA

Alan Todd, CFA is Managing Director and Head of CMBS research for J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. Alan joined JPMorgan in Spring 2005 after spending the prior five years at Bear, Stearns & Co. Alan, whose team was ranked #1 for CMBS Strategy in 2009, is also Vice Chair of the COMBOG Capital Markets Committee, a Managing Editor of CMBS World magazine and the author of several weekly/monthly CMBS publications. In addition, Alan regularly contributes research articles to industry publications and has been frequently quoted by The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Bloomberg, Dow Jones Newswire and the Associated Press. Alan began his career in the mortgage market at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in 1996, and subsequently developed loan-level analytics and modeled bonds in both the residential and franchise sectors. Alan earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from Syracuse University, an MBA in finance from Vanderbilt University, is a CFA charterholder and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

James R Woodwell
Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Research

Jamie Woodwell is Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Research at the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). As the leader for MBA's research on commercial and multifamily finance issues, Woodwell is responsible for providing economic and policy analysis in the area of real estate finance. Woodwell is a regular speaker at industry and other events, and he and his work are frequently featured in both print and television news media.

Woodwell oversees MBA’s surveys on commercial/multifamily production and servicing and produces regular and topical reports on the commercial/multifamily finance environment. He has staff responsibility for MBA’s Commercial/Multifamily Research Committee and has served as staff to the Council to Shape Change as well as the Council on Ensuring Mortgage Liquidity.

Previously, Woodwell was the manager of data initiatives for Fannie Mae’s multifamily group, where he was responsible for developing Fannie Mae’s multifamily data standards and projects consolidating data from various business lines. He has also served as the senior director of business development at CapitalThinking in New York, director of market research at the WMF Group in Virginia, and research manager at the National League of Cities in Washington, D.C .

Woodwell received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University and his master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Pittsburgh.
