Lillian McDonell, MBA, CPA, is the managing partner of Watson & McDonell, PLLC in Seattle. Formed in 1986, Watson & McDonell specializes in audits and tax preparation for nonprofits including affordable housing and social service providers, environmental groups, educational institutions, and arts organizations. Lillian has expertise in the low-income housing tax credit and new markets tax credit programs, and audits conducted under OMB Circular A-133 and Government Auditing Standards. She serves on the Audit Review Committee of United Way of King County. Lillian holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Washington.

Steve Jankowiak, CPA, is an audit manager at Watson & McDonell, PLLC in Seattle. He has over 15 years of experience auditing not-for-profit entities at national as well as local firms. His audit portfolio also includes clients subject to OMB Circular A-133, HUD projects and low-income housing tax credit projects. He is an active member of the Washington Society of CPA’s Not-for-Profit Committee and Annual Not-for-Profit Conference Planning Committee. Steve holds a bachelor of arts in accounting from Michigan State University.

Crystal Ewers holds a Master of Business Administration in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Crystal is the Controller for Water For People, a nonprofit working in developing countries dedicated to helping everyone have access to improved water. She has worked in social service nonprofits for over ten years with an emphasis on management accounting, earning her Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) certification in 2012. Crystal’s passion for nonprofit missions coupled with her obsession for “clean” audits provides a unique industry-sympathetic perspective that is sensitive to the ever-changing demands of audits and auditors.
